Fake-A** Absentee Ballots in Buncombe?

We interrupt the Extravablogiversapaloozathon madness to announce that unsolicited absentee ballots for the upcoming general election are arriving in the mailboxes of some Buncombe County residents.

A heads-up from the Buncombe County Democratic Party:
Several people have reported to us that they have received an unsolicited Absentee Ballot in the mail. These are not official ballots.
...

The only way to vote Absentee is to request, in writing, a ballot from the Board of Elections. Instructions are below.

Instructions to request an Official Absentee Ballot

Send a written request to: Rachel Brown, Board of Elections, PO Box 7468, Asheville, NC 28802. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, date of birth and the address where the ballot should be mailed if different from your residential address. The written request must be signed by the voter in order to receive a ballot. All requests for absentee ballots must be received by the Buncombe County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008.

Voted absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008. A voted ballot must be returned by mail, hand-delivered by the voter or hand-delivered by the voter's near relative.
