WNC Heritage

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This site is absolutely incredible. It has the kind of history you won't get anywhere else online (until the AC-T gets its archives up... Are they working on that?). Click here for over 3,000 historical pictures of Asheville. I spent the better part of an afternoon this past weekend perusing all these old photos. Then I went back into the city with a fresh set of eyes.

WNC Heritage also has documents, drawings, and oral history in a searchable database. You'll want to bookmark this one.

This is a photo of my family's restaurant, Peterson's Grill.

You can see my great uncle's station wagon outside.

Thank you so much for this link. I found several old postcards of Boone/Blowing Rock on the site and can't wait to go search the point of views out and do a 'then and now' comparison.

very cool.. I'm actually down in Atlanta, (trying to convince my wife to move up to Asheville)..but, check out this Atlanta website that pulls the same type of historical photos, then compares them, side by side, with what the location looks like today. I got lost for hours surfing on this one..
