Scenes From the Rally

{cross posted from Scrutiny Hooligans}

The Rally is still going, but I've absconded to the comfort of the nearby New French Bar, with its excellent wireless connection, to have a hot whisky and show you some of the scene:

The warmup band gets the crowd moving with some old-time Gospel.

The protesters get warmed up too.

Brainshrub makes his presence known.

The protesters are loud and proud.

While outnumbered 2-1 by the fag-hating God-lovers, Asheville's gay rights community were enthusiastic and impossible to ignore.

Here's a shot of the Rally's target audience.

With God on their side, these well dressed Christofascists came armed with a flag of their own.

Its strange that they would fly the flag of the sunday school movement. I guess it has taken on other meanings since Overton invented it in the 19th century. Originally, it was meant as an ecumenical "can't we all just get along" kind of emblem.

Interesting, wasn't it, that the presenters were all old, white men in suits. Says a lot right there.

Young people and womenfolk are natural sodomizers, EM, and you can't let either of 'em get too close to your Bible. They'll turn it into a sex toy or some dadblamed mini-skirt. The old, the white, the men - these are the features Bible leaders are told to have. Jesus was an old, white man.

But seriously, there are a lot of African-American churches that abhor them some homosexual lifestyle. Why weren't they represented? Don't be afraid to call Dr. Runion -828-252-6750- and ask if his group hates blacks as much gays, or if they hate blacks a little less.
