Drinking Liberally: What Is That Smell?

It's time again for Drinking Liberally. Asheville area liberals, progressives, democrats, greens, natural law-ers, and deliciously unaffiliated will gather tonight to get everyone up to speed on the smell coming out of Charles Taylor's offices. Beyond mere Transylvania B.O., the stench of institutionalized corruption issuing from Charles Taylor's officious orifices is now challenging the Canton mill for foulest olfactory experience in Western North Carolina.

You know about his refusal to return the money given to him by indicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff, right? How about his financial ties to Tom DeLay's TRMPAC and voting with DeLay 94% of the time? You know about the Russian bank. You know about the Blue Ridge Savings and Loan scandal? How about the slumlording? The favors for G.E. in return for campaign cash? The tax evasion? Wait, what about changing the ethics rules when no one was looking then changing them back when someone did?

These fancy facts and so many more will be on display tonight at the weekly gathering of Drinking Liberally. Jack of the Wood, downtown Asheville, every Thursday 7-10pm. Look for the delightful table signs, listen for the animated conversation, or just follow your nose. See you there!
