Freecycle

The worldwide Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's an international grassroots movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Put in your zipcode and check it out. I'm not as familiar with WNC Barter, but it appears just as helpful.

Best thing I've freecycled or bartered lately? The car I'm driving was bartered for my husband building someone a deck.

Locally, Hendersonville, (where I currently live) and Asheville both have busy groups.

It figures that filthy hippies would have a network of stuff they can get for free without working for it! People should just throw their junk in the landfill where it belongs.

yeah! and keep armed guards with shoot-to-kill orders posted along the perimeter of the landfill! and while we're at it, make it legal for store owners to attack dumpster divers with tazers! bulldoze the shelters and missions and open up starbucks and wal-marts! and ___________! (fill in the blank with another random piece of cliched right-wing invective...)

no really, freecycling is a good thing on many levels...
