But What They REALLY Needed Was Volunteers

Everybody, sorry for all the Extravablogiversapaloozathon madness! We'll try to keep the news and events coming, too.

BUT.
We've got a big party going on on Saturday, our biggest yet, with sponsors and food and booze and live music and comedy and a snazzy downtown location. But there's still things we need from YOU.

THIS IS WHAT WE STILL NEED TO DO THIS PARTY RIGHT. CAN YOU HELP?

* VOLUNTEERS -- We need volunteers to collect donations and check IDs/stamp hands at the door. We need people from 6 p.m. until. You can sign up for short shifts, drink while you do it, and get to meet everybody. Rock.

We also need people to volunteer as hosts/welcomers and make sure everybody is included and has a good time.

We also need a floater/gopher for most of the evening to help put out last-minute fires.

* NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS -- We need sodas/water and ice for about 100 (we're guessing; we've already got sweet tea from Clingman Ave. Coffee). Who can buy this stuff and drop it off? Not a big expense, but no one's covering it yet. Can you help?

* TABLES -- We need a few more cafeteria-style folding tables to hold the food and the free stuff and the naked dancing, if Shad or Thunder Pig or somebody decides to go there.

Do you have tables we can use? Let us know ASAP! The party's in five days!

IF YOU CAN HELP, LEAVE A COMMENT OR SEND EMAIL TO JENNIFER.FREELANCE at (the name of the account you'd have if you got your email from Google).com.

Thanks and love,

BlogAsheville Mgmt.

Good news! Anne Fitten has located one big folding table and three smaller tables. This means we only need a couple more of the bigger tables, and we're set.

And, I don't know about everyone else, but I dig the Extravablogimadness that takes this site over this time of year.

I'll do the first hour from 6 - 7.

Problem:

I plan on making the trip up to Asheville (I live in Sylva) for the party, but I'm flat broke. Should I plan on attending this or will Gordon's panties get in a wad if I'm too poor to donate?

Jason, I think the donation is suggested. We'd love to have you volunteer -- or have anybody volunteer-- to make up for cash you don't have on hand for AHOPE.

We just want the bloggers and the blog readers all there having fun.

If you can't donate to AHOPE this weekend for the party, come anyway and donate what you can when you can.

I have a big 6" folding table. It's a little gross, but as long as we've got a paper table cloth or something, it'll be fine.

That sounds like a plan, Jennifer. Working as a freelancer full time sort of means that I'm broke by the end of the month, ergo donating monies to people with less monies than I is sort of unpossible.

Blogga I freelance so don't think ya sista don't understand.

Kathryn,

Thanks for the offer, but we've got the tables situation sorted out now!

I've totally been MIA the last few weeks because of the Art in Autumn festival. Sorry I haven't been able to help more. What's the deal with the non-alcoholic drinks? Has anyone tried contacting Pepsi? They're usually really great about donating drinks for fundraisers.

xty -- Did the new logo work?
