City of Asheville Comprehensive Bike Plan

Christy of Stoplight Haiku and Liminal Screeds sent me the link to this excellent plan:

"The MPO [Metropolitan Planning Organization] is assisting the City of Asheville with their bicycle transportation plan. Toole Design Group, assisted by Livable Streets, Inc., has been contracted to create the plan with guidance from a steering committee and the public. There was an initial public open house in March 2007, where people told Toole Design representatives what was good and bad about cycling in Asheville. There was an online survey, which over 800 people completed.

Armed with that information, with much other research about conditions in the area, with the insight of the members of the steering committee, and with their considerable professional expertise, the consultants proposed draft recommendations. The recommendations were presented at a public meeting on July 26, 2007. The text of the draft plan will be released in late August. The plan documents to date: (linked)

We are actively seeking your input to the proposed plan. Please look at the plan documents, and let us know what is good or bad, right or wrong. What did we miss? You can send us an email, or mail your comments to us at French Broad River MPO, P.O. Box 7148. Asheville, NC 28802. Please put “Asheville Bicycle Plan” on the outside of the envelope."

Any chance of getting the county to work with the city on this to extend the western greenway to 151?
