Extravablogiversapaloozathon 2007

I know I've posted a couple of false starts on this inevitable event, but now it's time to make it happen.

Extravablogiversapaloozathon 2007 will take place, and this is how we'll do it:

On a Saturday night in September, we'll have a three part celebration of all things BlogAsheville.

Part One from 4-5:30pm will be hanging out, having cocktails or coffee, and inviting anyone who's ever been curious to "Meet the Bloggers". Invite your readers and the blogcurious.

Part Two from 6pm-8:30pm will be dinner and the BlogAsheville Blog Awards. Only folks who come to dinner will be able to vote, but everyone will get to make nominations.

Part Three from 9pm until the end will be the bash at the home of a lucky and as-yet-unidentified Asheville blogger.

You can come to any or all of the events and bring your family and friends.

In addition to all the bloggers at BlogAsheville, I'll be inviting the intrepid bloggers from the Asheville Citizen-Times and Mountain Xpress. Congressman Heath Shuler, a blogger himself, will also be invited. When you receive an invitation in your email box, please RSVP ASAP, so arrangements can be made for the dinner location.

I'm asking everyone to tell me in the comments or via email -

(1) Which date? September 15 or September 29;
(2) What awards categories should we use?

Extravablogiversapaloozathon 2007 is a recognition of our talents, our community, and our growing numbers. It's a chance to fall in love all over again.

I'll be out of town both those dates. Odd, how these events seem to fall on dates when I am traveling.

Either one works for me!

Yeah, we plan it that way, Mulder.

Kidding, kidding--it's been forevah since I've seen your face.

Both dates work for me.

Either works for me.

I liked the mix of the awards last time. How about just using the same categories?

Unfortunately for you all, either day works for me.

Same categories can work...

Here's last year's categories and winners

Either one works for me tentatively.

Okay, so it's the 29th?

I like the award cats from last year, Screwy!

Best new blog?

shewhoeats,

Yeah, with the caveat that it has to have started since the last blog awards. I like it.

Edgy,

The 29th it is.

I like all the categories too, and I love the idea of Best New Blog. Maybe Best Craft Blog, too?
