What's going on this land? Are they finally doing away with that ultra-crappy Ingles and building one that doesn't require a de-lousing upon exit? That's what I heard.
Ingles Markets bought the 8.2-acre property from Wal-Mart in 2003. Wal-Mart vacated the building in January 2005 when it opened a Supercenter more than a mile and a half to the southeast on Swannanoa River Road. Ingles plans to build a new store that would cover more than 69,000 square feet and include a pharmacy and gas pumps. The new store would replace one in a building Ingles leases just down the street at Innsbruck Mall.
