Reply to JS from Beth Newman

Brownie Newman has always held that the fourth highest vote getter should be the presumptive nominee to to fill an appointed city council seat, and he plans to vote for Brian. He has had, however, concerns about this incident and the way it was handled by Brian and has shared those concerns with Brian himself personally. He is out of town presently but will respond to Jonathan Swift's posting when he returns.

This was submitted by Beth Newman. I think the feeling is that the pot is being stirred for no reason.

Pelly's the one stirring the pot. And there is a reason - there's still a decision to be made. It's not over until Tuesday.

also, the only reason brownie supports the fact that it should be the fourth-highest vote-getter to be elected is because back in 2001, he thought HE was going to be the fourth-highest. he and holly sent out a bunch of news releases saying that the fourth-highest vote-getter should be picked, with the presumption that it would be brownie.

oops. turns out it wasn't. it was jim ellis, who was appointed.

maybe brownie should keep his mouth shut, or at least not paint himself into a corner.

Oh hell, it's on now.

Pelly's petulant swipe at Freeborn is less than I would have expected from this good council candidate. If he believes that smearing another progressive in a Machiavellian effort to win a seat on Council is worth the karmic toll, then keep on Mr. Pelly. But if you're truly interested in seeing the city grow smartly, then put your efforts where you've been putting them for years, into your community activism.

Mudslinging is beneath you, Chris Pelly. Retract, Apologize, Move on.

Also, yes, where is Newman's name mentioned in Swift's post? It looks to be about Pelly...

JS went in and took out his comment about Brownie, which I think was the right thing to do. Thanks, JS! Let's not directly attack our elected officials here.

Oh, why not?
