Best places to Blog in Asheville?

I write and often blog at Port City Java on Merrimon Avenue--because I am among the last people in America who still need a CAT5 connection to log in. Also, it's close to my home, clean, well-lit, the people who work there are friendly, and, it supplies my drug of choice.

So, in looking to occasionally expand my horizons, where do you write/blog in Asheville? Why?

If you're ever in PCJ, look for the woman with the ancient green Dell laptop and the CAT5. And say hi.
XOXO, Edgy Mama

The patio at Flying Frog Cafe picks up the Beampost Wireless. I also like the New French Bar's connection. The Relaxed Reader (Westville), Beanstreets and Malaprops tie for my third choice. Lastly, The Ideal Market.

Back when i didn't have internet at home, I'd do a lot more out'n'about blogging. Sometimes I'd write a post at home, then drive downtown, pull up to a Beampost Wireless, and upload my writing to the blog. Drive-by blogging.

and that's the way it was and we LIKED IT!

I don't know what CAT5, but it sounds like you'll need a gasoline-powered, turbocharged, overhead cam, dual injection server. And I don't have the first idea where to find one.

Yeah, Syntax. When my Aunt found out about my blog, she said, "Isn't that the same as the bluebooks we wrote in in journalism school?"

Screwy, it means I have to physically plug in--no wireless. Sad, isnt' it?

It is sad, edgy mama. Go spoil yourself with a tight little number, built-in wireless, big battery. You'll be glad you did.

I'm toting a heavy Dell laptop around with a blinky wireless card jutting edgewise rom the slot next to the CD burner. It's a fine machine, but it feels like a Studebaker when I see folks with their sleek and slenders.

I'm only a little jealous. The Dell does everything I need it to, and it doesn't give me a hard time.

Like Syntax, I blog from a desktop. I like knowing I can unplug from the 'net. But I always carry my small notebook to write down the stuff of life. Seems like I'm the only one blogging from a MAC. Any other MAC users?

A contributor to Scrutiny Hooligans, Jimmy Puddin', just got a beautiful little G4. He's been flaunting it, and I've been green.
