i've got old friends passing thru aville right and left this week. they all tell me carrboro is the paris of the south. i think asheville is. we're all probably wrong.
Great to see folks posting here already. Gotta love the internet, and you gotta love Uptown Ruler for whooping this shit up quicker than Betty Crocker could stck a layer cake.
carrboro was "the other side of the tracks" from chapel hill pre-civil rights. a lot of counter-cultural types lived there before the word "counter culture" popped up. as the triangle monolith expanded it gentrified, still an ok little burg to hang out, home of "cat's cradle" one of the first klubz to feature name musicians in a comfortable venue.

Screwy, I actually am from around here! lol! Still wouldn't know where Carboro was unless I looked it up on a map.
Thanks for all the info, Chris!
i always thought of asheville as "the prague of the southeast", except we have better weather and no one serves absinthe.
